I have been through some significant changes in my life over the years...
What I have learned is that “Change Is Inevitable”…
-
Some change we plan for and look forward to, we can picture it and it makes sense to us…
-
Some change we don’t plan for but when it comes it is pleasant and positive so we embrace it and can quickly picture how to make sense of it…
-
Some change we plan for but it isn’t what we expected and we have to acknowledge that it is not what was anticipated and then we need to adjust so we can navigate around the obstacles and proceed…
-
And some change we don’t plan for but when it comes is so unexpected that it creates a shockwave within and we don’t know what to do…
First of all– remember that “Everyone” reacts in a very individual way to change. Some can quickly adapt and some take longer. You are allowed to have your own feelings, whether or not they are shared by the people around you. The key is that how we engage and transition through the change that determines our future well-being.
Horst Prelog has been a great leader for Cosma. There are few that would argue that he possesses vision, charisma, and an innate ability to see through the immediate roadblocks to the end result. He empowered us and I’m also sure it is safe for me to say that when you remember his leadership and your experience with him you will say that he held us accountable, asked the tough questions and challenged us. The question is – What lessons did we learn along the way that will take us forward to success?”
In every leadership journey there are peaks and valleys that need to be navigated. And each journey can have unexpected turns which alter our course. That does not mean we give up on reaching the destination. We need to perhaps pause and reflect. But we need to always keep the vision of the destination (what is the end goal) in front of us. Draw on what we have learned along the way and then look forward and find the best way to achieve our objectives.
For me personally it will be a few key things:
- · The Fair Enterprise System
- · The Principles of our the Magna Employee Charter
- · The Cosma Credo and Our Principles
- · The Unified Effort
- · The Balance of the 3 Legged Stool
- · Doing What’s Right
We can honour Horst's leadership by ensuring that we uphold the the fundamental principles that he taught us and live each day reinforcing the foundation of our Culture… Entrepreneurial, Unified and Fair…
The greatest any leader can ask is that he or she leaves a legacy that continues after they have moved on.
As we look forward, please ensure that we live our principles and work to ensure the future success for you and for Cosma and Magna…
And Thank You Horst, for your leadership and for 25 years and for taking us to where we are today !
